In Memoriam

We lost a very valuable member of the All Things Wild team last week.  Ruth, who had been our treasurer for 5 years when she resigned last summer, continued to serve on our Board of Directors and was a wonderful source of good advice and wisdom.

Ruth was born in Celina, Texas, which is north of Dallas, and grew up in Oklahoma City.  She was working for a plumbing hardware manufacturing company when she met her husband Roger, who was a manager there.  She left the plumbing company and took a job as the credit manager at Shor-Line in Kansas City, to be joined later by Roger.  They married in 1995.

Ruth and Roger bought a house in Sun City, Georgetown, in 2017 to be closer to their children.  In 2019, Ruth stepped up to become treasurer of All Things Wild.   Over the years, Ruth’s contributions to All Things Wild were unparalleled.  She had strong opinions that were always on the mark, a fierce sense of fairness, and a wicked sense of humor.    Her mission, well achieved, was to keep the Board and All Things Wild on a path of growth and accomplishments in rescuing and helping wild animals while working within the funds provided by donors.  In fact, Ruth and Roger have been major donors to All Things Wild themselves.

Ruth never let COPD and the need to be on supplemental oxygen get in the way of her work and achievements.   And, even though her will was strong and her mind alert, her body eventually gave out.  She passed away peacefully on December 27 surrounded by her family.  But we all know that her spirit will live forever at All Things Wild in the hearts of the volunteers and staff who are dedicated to saving wild animals.
